Javed Ahamed Khan

Javed Ahamed Khan was born on 21 June 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He began his political career with the Indian National Congress and became actively involved in grassroots politics in South Kolkata. Over the years, he built a reputation as a local organiser and public representative, eventually securing electoral success in the state assembly.

He was first elected as an MLA from the Garden Reach constituency in 2011 as a candidate of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), following his shift from the Congress to the Trinamool Congress during a significant political realignment in West Bengal politics. His victory came during the landmark 2011 Assembly elections that brought the AITC to power in the state.

After serving one term from Garden Reach, Khan contested from the Kasba constituency in the 2016 West Bengal Assembly elections and won. He retained the Kasba seat again in the 2021 Assembly elections, consolidating his political base in south Kolkata. His electoral victories reflect sustained support across multiple constituencies.

In the Government of West Bengal, Javed Ahamed Khan served as Minister of Disaster Management and Civil Defence, handling administrative coordination related to emergency response and disaster preparedness.

As of 2026, he continues to serve as MLA from Kasba, participating in legislative proceedings and constituency-level governance initiatives.
