A retired Additional Superintendent of Police from Jalpaiguri District, James Kujur contested and won 2016 assembly elections from Kumargram constituency as AITC candidate. He cleared his Public service examinations and was subsequently appointed Inspector of commercial taxes.
A retired Additional Superintendent of Police from Jalpaiguri District, James Kujur contested and won 2016 assembly elections from Kumargram constituency as AITC candidate. He cleared his Public service examinations and was subsequently appointed Inspector of commercial taxes. He was then promoted Commercial Tax Officer. He then cleared the West Bengal Civil services examination and was appointed as Deputy Superintendent of Police in 1987. In 2016 he retired from and force and forayed into politics and was elected MLA of Kumargram constituency. He was appointed tribal development minister but was relieved of his duties in 2018.
