Jyotsna Mandi was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Ranibandh (ST) in May 2016, marking her first legislative victory following the Assembly polls. She successfully contested again in 2021, reinforcing her political presence in this tribal reserved seat in Bankura district.
In the Government of West Bengal, Mandi was appointed Minister of State for Food & Supplies (Independent Charge) on 10 May 2021. In this role, she oversees the state’s food distribution system and associated welfare initiatives, including ensuring efficient public distribution and supply chain access for vulnerable groups.
Before entering electoral politics, Mandi was primarily involved in social and community work at the grassroots level in Bankura. Her focus on local issues and engagement with residents helped build her support base ahead of her first election.
As of 2026, she continues her service as MLA and minister, participating in legislative proceedings and development initiatives across her constituency and department.
