Manoj Tiwary was born on 14 November 1985 in Howrah district, West Bengal. He went up the Bengal’s domestic cricket ladder and made a debut in international cricket in 2008. During his cricketing career, he appeared in 12 One-Day Internationals and 3 T20 Internationals for India, and he made a huge number of runs in the domestic circuit. Eventually, he became a dominant player in Bengal's first-class cricket.
He left sports and concentrated on politics in 2021, and before the West Bengal Assembly election, he joined the All India Trinamool Congress. Tiwary contested from Shibpur (Howrah district) and got elected, thus he made a formal entry into the politics of the legislature.
After coming into politics, he has been discussing the worries of the youth and sports, and using his experience as a professional athlete. On sports infrastructure, job creation for youth, and community development in his constituency, he has made promises. As of 2025, he is still busy with legislative and public outreach work.
