Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, where she specialised in ultrasound and infertility treatments, establishing herself professionally before entering politics.

She began her political career as a councillor in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation in 2010 and served as a mayoral council member in charge of education, gaining administrative experience at the city level.

Panja was first elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Shyampukur in 2011, and was subsequently re-elected in 2016 and 2021, demonstrating sustained electoral support in her constituency.
