Sanajaoba, who uses the prefix ‘Maharaja’ before his name, is the grandson of Maharaja Bodhchandra, Manipur’s last ruler. He has been a Customary Head of Manipur.
He was born to Maharaja Okendrajit and Maharani Tampha Leima in Imphal East on 01st March 1972. He married Haobam Anamika Devi in 1998 and was blessed with two children with her.
After remaining largely non-political, Sanajaoba shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then BJP president Amit Shah in rallies ahead of the 2017 Manipur state elections.
Finally, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Manipur in 2020 on the BJP ticket. Currently, he is a Member of the Committee on Science and Technology, Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Member of the Committee on Energy.
As a writer, he has also written some short stories and some books based on Manipuri culture and tradition but they are not published. Additionally, he enjoys immersing in literature and finds solace in reading books. Furthermore, he has a knack for storytelling, delighting young audiences with captivating tales.

He is a passionate cricketer who actively engages in club activities. Apart from this, he finds joy in music, adept at singing, playing tabla, and dholki.
