Draupadi Murmu is the 15th and current President of India. She is also the former cabinet minister of Odisha and the governor of Jharkhand. She was born into a humble family based in the remote village of Mayurbhanj, a tribal district of Odisha. She had worked as an assistant teacher and a junior assistant in the Odisha state irrigation department.
Murmu started her political journey with the BJP in 1997 and worked as a councilor in Rairangpur. She has also worked as the president of the Scheduled Tribe Morcha of the BJP Odisha unit before being elected twice to Odisha state legislative assembly on the BJP ticket and also served as a cabinet minister during 2002-2004 in Naveen Patnaik led BJD-BJP coalition government where she was felicitated with the best legislative member award.
Though her personal life remained full of struggle and tragedy, Murmu touched the pinnacle of public life and achieved monumental records in politics and social services. She lost her husband and two grown-up sons, but she stood strong on all occasions. Murmu created history as she became the first women governor of Jharkhand, the first tribal governor of a tribal state, and the first Odisha-born woman to be a governor.
In her family, she is accompanied by her only daughter, Itishree Murmu, who is a bank employee, and her son-in-law, Ganesh Hembram, who is a rugby player.

President Draupadi Murmu is on a two-day meet to her state Odisha.
As per reports, she received a warm welcome at Bhubaneswar airport on Thursday.

Thereafter, Ms. Murmu was seen leaving towards Puri on an Air Force helicopter.
Draupadi Murmu recently inaugurated a supercomputer facility called Param Kamrupa, and a high-power component laboratory called Sameer at IIT Guwahati. As the President of India is currently on a two-day visit to Assam since 13 October.
Draupadi Murmu flagged off two passenger trains on October 13, 2022. One train is connecting Tripura and Manipur, another one is an express train linking Agartala and Kolkata via Guwahati.
However, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha also flagged off the two passenger trains of Northeast Frontier Railway along with the President of India.
President Draupadi Murmu and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended 90th Indian Air Force Day today. The program was organized at Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh. The Defence Minister also posted the same on his social media.
