Dr. Alok Kumar Suman

Dr. Alok Kumar Suman was born on March 4, 1957, to Jai Shri Ram and Patia Devi in Jadopur Dukhaharan. In 1989, he married Kumari Savita, and together they have two sons.

Dr. Suman was elected to the 17th Lok Sabha from the Gopalganj constituency in Bihar as a Janata Dal (United) candidate during the 2019 general elections. He currently serves as a Member of the Joint Committee on The Forest (Conservation) Amendment Bill.

He is a lifetime member of the Indian Medical Association and the Association of Surgeons of India. Additionally, he has held leadership roles in the Rotary Club in Gopalganj, having served as both President and Secretary. He is also a member of the Gayatri Samaj in Gopalganj.

Dr. Suman has a keen interest in public health and education. He has organised numerous complimentary medical checkup camps, facilitated free surgeries, and given educational talks to raise health awareness. Over his career, he has successfully performed approximately 15,000 surgeries. He also founded the Pahal Coaching Centre, which provides free education to about 150 underprivileged children from various backgrounds. Furthermore, he has distributed books and stationery to children in various villages of the Gopalganj District.

In his free time, Dr. Suman enjoys playing the flute, reading books, watching TV, swimming, gardening, and farming. He also likes playing football and badminton.

Coming from a humble family background, Dr Suman worked as a labourer on farms to support his primary education by purchasing slate and books. Now, his total assets are valued at Rs 3,27,39,903, while his liabilities amount to Rs 35,76,375.82.
