Arun Manjhi, a local of Bihar and a son of the Scheduled Caste community, has been mostly engaged with public service throughout his life. As he was raised in the state, he became very familiar with the local issues and recognized the difficulties of the marginalized sections of society, which eventually influenced the formation of his political ambitions.
Manjhi belongs to the Janata Dal (United) [JD(U)] party and has had influence in Bihar state politics for more than twenty years. In 2010, he was elected an MLA from the Masaurhi (SC) constituency, which was a turning point in his career. Moreover, he was a candidate from Phulwari (SC) constituency in 2005 and 2020, thus proving his active presence in electoral politics and his unwavering commitment to representing the Scheduled Caste communities.
Manjhi has also been very energetic in social service and has chosen education, healthcare, and the creation of new jobs as the areas of focus in his constituency. His works are the testimonies of his commitment to the impoverished sections of society and the promotion of their participatory development.
At present, in the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections, Arun Manjhi will be contesting from the Masaurhi (SC) constituency again. It reaffirms his dedication to serving the public and his intention to lead the region towards further development through his continued involvement.
In November 2025, Arun Manjhi of JD(U) won the Masaurhi (SC) seat, polling 106,505 votes and finishing ahead of RJD’s Rekha Devi by a margin of 7,643 votes, marking his return to the assembly.
