Vasant Chinduji Purke

Vasant Chinduji Purke, born on 15 July 1956 in Maharashtra, built his political career through grassroots engagement in Vidarbha’s tribal and rural regions. His early involvement in public life focused on social welfare, representation of marginalised communities, and organisational work within the Congress party structure.

He rose through party ranks to become a Member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, where he contributed to legislative debates and committee work. Over time, he was entrusted with ministerial responsibilities in the state government, handling portfolios connected to tribal welfare and social development.

Following his ministerial tenure, Purke remained active in state-level politics, participating in party strategy, public meetings, and policy advocacy focused on education, welfare schemes, and regional equity in Vidarbha.
