Mukesh Agnihotri

Mukesh‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Agnihotri, an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress, has been the Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh since 2022. He is a five-time MLA and one of the senior-most Congress leaders in the state, with vast experience in the administration and organization.

Agnihotri continues to be instrumental in the leadership of the party and the administration of the state in Himachal ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Pradesh.

Mukesh Agnihotri Biography

Mukesh‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Agnihotri's birth took place on the 9th of October, 1962, in Sangrur, Punjab. He obtained his M.A. in Mass Communication from the University of Himachal Pradesh. After that, he was a journalist (before being actively involved in politics); therefore, he had first-hand knowledge of the government's activities and public policy.

Agnihotri entered politics with the Indian National Congress and has served as the MLA from the Haroli constituency in Una district since 2003. He, thus, has been the Opposition Leader (2018–2022) and Minister for Industries, Labour & Employment, and Parliamentary Affairs besides the Congress government in the last term.

Hearing a victorious party, Mukesh Agnihotri was appointed the first Deputy Chief Minister of the state and took the oath in the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in December 2022. He is reputed for his eloquent leadership and developmental work in the constituency. He is committed to the growth of the state's industry, job creation, and balanced development of the regions, and thus remains a prominent person in state ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌politics.
