Mohammed Azharuddin Biography

Mohammad Azharuddin, born on 8th February 1963 in Hyderabad, is a former Indian cricket captain and a Congress leader. With his stylish batting and leadership skills, he was the captain of the Indian cricket team in the 1990s and then moved on to public life.

He dived into politics in 2009 when he won the Lok Sabha election from Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) on a Congress ticket. He has been a significant presence in the party throughout these years and has especially been involved in the party activities in Telangana and Hyderabad.

By October 2025, Azharuddin is a minister in the Telangana cabinet led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and hence, the first Muslim minister in the present government.
