Kimmane Rathnakar is the former Minister of Primary and Secondary Education & Sakala of Karnataka from 2013 to 2016. He also won the Karnataka Legislative Assembly twice being the representative of Thirthahalli constituency in 2008 and 2013, respectively. During the 2018 assembly election, he was defeated by BJP candidate Araga Jnanendra by 21,679 votes. Presently, Rathnakar is placed for the upcoming assembly election 2023 from the same constituency on the ticket of the Indian National Congress.
