K. Muraleedharan

K. Muraleedharan, born on 22 April 1967 in Kerala, is the son of former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran, one of the most influential Congress leaders in the state’s political history. Growing up in a politically dominant household exposed him early to electoral strategy, public mobilisation, and party organisation, shaping his interest in active politics rather than a purely professional career.

He entered public life through the Indian National Congress and its youth and organisational wings, gradually building an independent political identity beyond his family legacy. His early years were marked by active participation in party campaigns, grassroots mobilisation, and organisational responsibilities across Kerala.

Muraleedharan transitioned into electoral politics by contesting parliamentary elections and was elected to the Lok Sabha, later serving in the Rajya Sabha as well. His parliamentary tenure focused on national-level political engagement while maintaining strong connections with Kerala’s Congress structure and voter base.
