Kothur G. Manjunath won the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Kolar constituency as a candidate of INC in 2023. Before that, he won the 2013 assembly election from Mulbagal constituency as an Independent candidate. As Manjunath was initially denied to get the ticket by INC, but later became a part of the party. After that, due to some controversial issues, he was unable to contest the 2018 assembly election. However, presently he is serving as MLA after winning the 2023 assembly election with 43.56 per cent of votes.
