Subhasish Chakraborty

Subhasish Chakraborty was born to Padmapani Chakraborty and Prativa Rani Chakraborty in Kolkata on 21st Devember 1957. He married Soma Chakraborty in 1994 and was blessed with one son.

He was elected to the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament from West Bengal as an All India Trinamool Congress. Presently, he serves as a member of the Committee on Housing and Urban Affairs.

He is quite dedicated to enriching society through diverse social and cultural endeavours. He passionately uplifts the underprivileged by aiding impoverished communities and fostering the education, sports, and cultural development of disadvantaged children. He actively collaborates with numerous organisations to enhance cultural, sporting, and social initiatives across Bengal.

As the General Secretary of the West Bengal Trinamool Congress, he holds key responsibilities in guiding the party's vision and strategies. Additionally, he serves as the President of various important entities, including the Trinamool Congress in the South 24 Parganas District, the Trinamool Trade Union Congress in the same district, and the Kalighat Kali Temple Committee in Kolkata.

His involvement extends further as a Member of significant institutions such as the Regional Transport Office in Alipore, Kolkata, the Agri-Horticultural Society of India also situated in Alipore, Kolkata, and the Bar Council of West Bengal.

His favourite games are cricket and football.
