Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar

Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar was born on November 23, 1959, in Kolkata to Ajit Moitra and Ira Moitra.

In 2009, she was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha, marking the beginning of her political career.

Since then, Dr. Ghosh Dastidar has held various significant positions. Notably, she served as a Member of the Standing Committee on Home Affairs in 2009 and later became a member of the Committee on Government Assurances in September of the same year. In October 2009, she joined the Committee on Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, furthering her involvement in parliamentary affairs.

Continuing her tenure, Dr. Ghosh Dastidar was re-elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in May 2014. During this term, she served on the Standing Committee on Home Affairs.

In 2014, she was appointed to the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Railways.

She was re-elected for the third time to the 17th Lok Sabha in May 2019. During this term, she assumed various responsibilities, including membership in the Panel of Chairpersons and the Standing Committee on Home Affairs.

Moreover, Dr. Ghosh Dastidar's contributions extend beyond legislative duties. She has been an active member of several parliamentary committees, including the Committee on Absence of Members from the Sittings of the House and the General Purposes Committee, demonstrating her commitment to parliamentary processes and deliberations.

Furthermore, her involvement in the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Rural Development and the Ministry of Panchayati Raj since November 2019 underscores her dedication to rural and grassroots development initiatives.

She has a strong passion for improving healthcare access for both rural and urban communities, especially focusing on the underprivileged.

She has dedicated herself to various initiatives aimed at serving the poor. This includes collaborating with Mother Teresa to provide assistance to those in need. Presently, she is actively involved with Pir Towa Siddique of Furfura Sharif, working on the Mujadida Anath Foundation to support orphaned children.

Additionally, Dr Ghosh Dastidar has been running a school for impoverished children from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families for the past six years. Alongside regular studies, these children receive music lessons, enriching their lives with the joy of music.

On a personal front, she married Dr. Sudarsan Ghosh Dastidar and is blessed with two sons with him. Her net worth stands at Rs. 7,58,56,851.
