Jai Prakash Agarwal

Jai Prakash Agarwal, born on November 11, 1944, in Delhi to R.C. Agarwal and Savitri Agarwal, has led a distinguished political career. His journey began with his election to the 8th Lok Sabha in 1984, where he also served as the Leader of the Congress Party in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and later as its Chairperson of the Standing Committee.

Over the years, he continued to serve in various capacities, including as Deputy Mayor of Delhi from 1983 to 1984 and as President of the District Youth Congress from 1973 to 1975. His dedication to public service led to multiple re-elections to the Lok Sabha and his appointment as President of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee from September 2007 onwards.

In addition to his political engagements, Agarwal has actively pursued interests beyond politics. He enjoys music and is an avid player of carrom, cricket, football, and hockey. Notably, he also holds positions of significance in sports administration, serving as the President of the All India Carrom Federation and as a Patron of both the All India Chess Federation and the All India Wrestling Association.

On a personal note, Agarwal is married to Sarita Agarwal, with whom he shares two sons. His contributions to society and his endeavours have contributed to his net worth, which stands at Rs. 9,61,59,175.
