Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) Flag

Asom Jatiya Parishad election symbol is the 'Ship'. It was allotted by the Election Commission of India for the 2021 Assam Assembly election. The allocation was reported on February 28, 2021 by multiple outlets. AJP candidates contested using this symbol, marking their political identity in Assam.

In 2021, AJP formed a front with Raijor Dal for the Assembly election. Seat-sharing set AJP in 82 constituencies and Raijor Dal in 29. Raijor Dal later said the alliance broke during the campaign, in July 2021. Under ECI rules, each partys allotted symbol remains party-specific. Candidates use an allys symbol only when contesting on that allys ticket.

AJP: Symbol Use and Flag Clarity

There is no ECI notification specifying an official Asom Jatiya Parishad flag. Party materials display a flag and a Party Logo, without official ECI specification. ECI regulates election symbols, not flags, under the Symbols Order. In 2024, AJP contested one Lok Sabha seat within the INDIA alliance. Future symbol allocations will follow Election Commission of India decisions and published notices.

Media reports continue referencing the Ship symbol for AJP after 2021. Continuation depends on Election Commission of India recognition or notifications before each poll. Rules also allow common election symbols.
