Vijender Gupta


Vijender Gupta is an Indian politician of BJP party from Delhi. He is presently a Member of Legislative Assembly from Rohini constituency and also a member of BJP's National Executive. In Delhi state elections 2015, he was one of the three BJP candidates to win and was also the president of Delhi state unit of BJP. Vijendra Gupta started his political career as a student leader and in 1984 he was elected as the Vice President of the Delhi University Students Union.

Vijendra Gupta was elected Chairman of the Standing Committee MCD from 2007-2010 and forefronted the e-governance system in the MCD functioning to enhance the accountability and transparency of the systems in place.
Vijendra Gupta's agitations against the commercialization of education and then a public interest litigation led to a decision by the Delhi High Court and Supreme Court in favor of poor children and quality education.
Vijendra Gupta fought against the lottery playing in the country which resulted in a ban on the lottery in 1993 under the banner of NGO Lok Abhiyan.
Vijendra Gupta also started a campaign concerning the parking in DDA parks with the morning walkers
