Om Prakash Dhurve has served as MLA from the Shahpura constituency. He won the 2013 State Legislative Assembly elections but lost in 2018. He served as Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Social Welfare, SC and ST Welfare, Women and Child Development, and later Tribal Welfare, Labour, Sports, and Youth Welfare Minister of the MP Government. He is again set to contest the 2023 Assembly elections from Shahpura being a BJP candidate.
