Jagat Prakash Nadda was raised in Patna, Bihar, by his parents, Dr. Narain Lall Nadda and Krishna Nadda. After finishing his education at St. Xavier's School in Patna, he went on to get a B.A. from Patna College and an LL.B. from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He was engaged in student politics at his college and joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
During the Emergency, Nadda was actively involved in the movement led by Jayaprakash Narayan called Sampoorna Kranti. In 1977, he was elected Secretary of Patna University Students’ Union. His early involvement in political activities paved the way for a long career in administration and party organization.
For multiple times, Nadda was a member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly (MLA) after which he resigned formally politics in India recently (1993–98, 1998–2003, 2007–2012 era). Among the many state cabinet posts that he filled with deft skill are Health & Family Welfare, Parliamentary Affairs, Forest & Environment, Science & Technology, and the like. His governance in Himachal Pradesh made people recognize him not only in the state but also at the national level.
At the national level, Nadda was converted to a Rajya Sabha MP, and after that, he became the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare (2014–2019). With his excellent organizing skills, he was made the BJP National President in January 2020 after chairman post was held by him for some time. BJP, under his direction, has become a party that is solid in structure and well-prepared in terms of strategies all over the country.

President of BJP, JP Nadda has recently praised the prime minister by saying under Modi government India does not shy away to take stand on complex situation.
