Parshottam Odhavjibhai Solanki was born on 23 May 1961, in Andheri, Mumbai. He eventually moved to Gujarat, where he developed his professional life as a redeveloper and owner of a farm, along with being a good public services and politics activist. He entered the BJP party (Bharatiya Janata Party) right from the beginning and soon constituted himself as a leader at the bottom of the pyramid that was very much connected to the people.
Solanki took to politics in 1998 and immediately argued his right to be a Member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly (MLA). Thus, he has been a permanent feature in the state's elections and is now one of the longest-serving legislators. His approach to the constituents was purely political, and he was concerned with the development of the locals, the improvement of the infrastructure, and the resolution of matters pertaining to the rural and coastal areas.
His political career witnessed a great change in 2007, when he won the Gujarat Assembly election from the Talaja constituency. Soon after this victory, he was inducted into the Gujarat cabinet of Narendra Modi and was given the portfolio of Fisheries Minister. Besides, the cabinet minister Solanki, during his tenure, was connected with programs meant for the upliftment of the fisheries sector in Gujarat and the entire community dependent on fishing as well, through the augmentation of livelihood support.
Solanki remained active and strong within the BJP and state politics after his ministerial reign. He then applied from the Bhavnagar Rural constituency, from where he was re-elected as an MLA in the year 2017, thus establishing his power and influence in the area. His long-term co-operation with the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is a result of both party loyalty and electoral consistency.
In 2025, Parshottam Solanki is still considered to be a senior BJP leader in Gujarat, a former cabinet minister, and an experienced legislator with novel political involvements.
