Rajendra Rathore is a minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Parliamentary Affairs and Elections in Govt. of Rajasthan and presently a member of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly 6th term. He won the Churu Assembly seat in the years 1990,1993,1998, 2003 and 2013. He was elected from Taranagar constituency, Churu, Rajasthan as a candidate of Bharatiya Janata Party. He is from Shekhawati area Rajasthan. Rathore is seen as third in rank in the state�s power structure. He was born on 21 April 1955, Harpalsar, Churu, Rajasthan. He has done MA, LLB, DLL from Rajasthan University 1981-82. He married to Smt. Chand on 23 Feb 1978. The couple has one son.

Rathore is considered a major firefighter for the Rajasthan government and is often fielded to tackle the media. Rathore is one of the strong leaders of Vasundhara Raje's team. He stood against media when she faced continuous media bombardment in the Lalit Modi case.

Political Timeline of Rajendra Rathore

  • 2013 : Rajendra again contested from the same seat and again elected as MLA. He became Health minister in Rajasthan Government.
  • 2012 : CBI had arrested Rathore in April 2012 for his alleged role as a conspirator in the Dara Singh fake encounter case later he got bail. Rathore was not implicated in the CBI charge-sheet. But it was categorically mentioned that investigations against him were pending. The case is currently being monitored by the Supreme Court.
  • 2008 : Because of Roop Kunwar Sati case (1987), in which Rathod was allegedly involved, in the 2008 assembly election, BJP governing body denied the ticket to Rajendra Rathore, however, he was acquitted in 2004 itself. As a result of which BJP candidate Harlal Saharan lost against Congress in Churu constituency.
  • 2003 : He again won assembly election from Churu and inducted in the Rajasthan cabinet as PWD minister. He served as PWD minister till 2008.
  • 1998 : He defeated Ashik Ali of Congress Party and again elected as an MLA from Churu assembly seat.
  • 1993 : Just before the election he joined BJP and successfully contested assembly elections from Churu seat. He again defeated Hamida Begum.
  • 1990 : Rajendra Rathore won the assembly election from Churu assembly seat on Janta Dal ticket. He defeated Hamida Begum of Congress Party.
  • 1983: Rajendra Rathore joined politics and became active in social activities. Later he joined Janta Dal.
