Vanathi Srinivasan

Vanathi Srinivasan's life started on June 6, 1970, in a place called Uliyampalayam, which is in the Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Initially, she finished her school education in her hometown. She attended PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, where she took up her major in Chemistry, and then Dr. Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai, for a law degree. Lastly, she proceeded to the University of Madras for a master’s in law. Practicing law at the Madras High Court was where she started her legal career and slowly built it up till she decided to quit and join politics.

Vanathi's political career did not have any plans at first since she was involved with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and afterwards, in 1993, the BJP. The party gave her major organizational responsibilities, such as General Secretary and Vice President of the BJP Tamil Nadu, subsequently National President of the BJP Mahila Morcha in October 2020, which is a considerable leadership role at the national level.

Vanathi participated in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in the years 2011 in the Mylapore constituency and 2016 in the Coimbatore South constituency but got no success. On the contrary, in May 2021, she achieved a great milestone, winning the Coimbatore South seat, defeating veteran actor Kamal Haasan, which was a very rare BJP win in the politics of the region.

Taxed with her responsibilities as MLA, Vanathi has emphasized improving public services, education, and civic infrastructure within her constituency. By the year 2024, her office was awarded the ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management in governance and constituency service, making it the first MLA office in Tamil Nadu to receive that recognition, a triumph of administering standards and patience.

She is still attending political discussions and remains a constant critic of the current state government regarding education infrastructure, government schools staffing, and prioritization of governance.

As of 2025, Vanathi Srinivasan remains the BJP's national women's wing president and the state MLA, thus engaged in legislative work and wider party strategy.
