Anil Vij

Anil Vij was born to Bhim Sain in Ambala Cantt, Haryana, on March 15, 1953. He began his political career by contesting the Ambala Cantonment seat, and over the years, he has contested the seat eight times, winning six of those elections.

In 2014, Vij was considered a contender for the Chief Minister position in Haryana when the BJP was deciding between a Punjabi or Jat candidate. His chances were strong, but the party eventually chose first-time MLA Manohar Lal Khattar as Chief Minister.

During the Lok Sabha polls in June 2019, Vij declared that he would only campaign within his own assembly constituency. In the same year, he was appointed as the Home Minister of Haryana in Khattar's cabinet.

In 2023, as Home Minister, Vij oversaw the department during the Nuh violence in Haryana. However, following this, he was dropped from the Nayab Singh Saini cabinet. In May 2023, Vij expressed his displeasure with the party, feeling sidelined and treated as an outsider.

Despite the BJP announcing Saini as their Chief Ministerial candidate, Vij, at 71, declared his desire to become CM based on his seniority.

Throughout his political journey, Anil Vij has maintained a clean legal record, with zero cases against him. Financially, he has a total net worth of Rs 1.5 crore, including Rs 24.5 lakh in movable assets and Rs 1.3 crore in immovable assets, with no liabilities.
