Temjen Imna Along was born on 25 November 1980 in Mokokchung, Nagaland, India. As a politician from the Ao Naga tribe, he pursued his early education at Don Bosco School in Dimapur and later finished his pre-university studies at City College of Arts and Commerce, Dimapur.
Along made his electoral debut in the 2018 local elections. He won the member of the Nagaland legislative assembly election from Longtaki constituency (a scheduled tribe reserved seat) and thus become member of the Nagaland legislative assembly. In a short time, he was appointed as Minister for Higher and Technical Education and Tribal Affairs in the Nagaland Government, and actively helped to implement education and tribal development policies through his department.
Reflecting his growing influence within the party organisation, he was made State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Nagaland on 15 January 2020. He was instrumental in leading the party's growth and its election planning in the state till 25 September 2023, which was the end of his tenure. After that, along with the re-election of the BJP that year, he was appointed as the new party leader of Nagaland.
Along was also successful in the 2023 Nagaland Assembly elections, where he retained his seat in the Alongtaki constituency. After the election, he was assigned as the Minister of Tourism and Higher Education in the Fifth Neiphiu Rio Ministry. These portfolios are directly related to the promotion of tourism and the administration of higher education.
Along also maintains a strong connection with people through his social media activities, where he is regularly present.
