Gangapuram Kishan Reddy

Born on June 15, 1964, in the quaint village of Thimmapur, nestled within the heart of Andhra Pradesh, Gangapuram Kishan Reddy was born to G. Swamy Reddy and G. Andalamma, affectionately known as 'Kishananna', embarked on a remarkable journey that would eventually see his name resonate not only within the intricate web of Indian politics but also on the global stage as a staunch advocate against cross-border terrorism and a compassionate legislator championing the cause of children.

Even in his formative years, Kishan Reddy exhibited leadership qualities that were nothing short of remarkable. At a tender age of 11, he assumed the presidency of his upper primary school, foreshadowing his future trajectory in the world of governance. Throughout his academic pursuits, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to social causes, organising awareness programs shedding light on governmental negligence towards countering terrorism and spearheading movements advocating for the rights of the visually impaired and physically challenged, all while advocating for equal opportunities.

His ideological foundations were deeply rooted in the teachings of visionaries such as Jayaprakash Narayan and Swami Vivekananda, whose principles of nationalism and social service guided his path. In 1977, he found a political home within the Janata Party, under the leadership of the iconic Jayaprakash Narayan. Inspired by the steadfast commitment to Indian nationalism espoused by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), he later transitioned to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), quickly ascending to the ranks of national leadership.

Kishan Reddy's electoral journey commenced in 2004 when he secured a seat in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from the Himayath Nagar constituency, a feat he replicated in 2009 and 2014, this time representing the Amberpet Constituency. However, his aspirations transcended provincial boundaries, and in 2019, he emerged victorious in the fiercely contested Secunderabad Lok Sabha seat, triumphing over his opponent with a resounding margin of over 60,000 votes.

In the 2024 general election, he contested and won from the same constituency on the BJP ticekt. Subsequently, he was inducted into the Modi 3.0 cabinet. He was appointed as a Union Minister of both Coal and Mines.

His dedication to public service and unwavering commitment to his constituents earned him the prestigious role of Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs, a testament to his efficacy and leadership within the corridors of power.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kishan Reddy remained grounded in his roots, never forgetting his humble origins in a middle-class farmer's family in the backward Ranga Reddy District.
