Sandhyarani Tudu was born on 9 March 1971 in West Bengal. She comes from a tribal background and has been deeply involved in grassroots political activism. Her political journey began with the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), which she joined in 1998, inspired by local leadership and grassroots public service goals.
Her early political work focused on tribal welfare and community mobilisation in Purulia district, particularly in Manbazar, where she built strong local support networks. Before entering the Assembly, she served as a Zilla Parishad member and leader, laying the foundation for her electoral career.
In the 2011 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election, Tudu was elected MLA from Manbazar (ST), defeating CPI(M)’s Himani Hansda. She subsequently retained the seat in 2016 and 2021, defeating various challengers, including CPI(M) and BJP candidates, showing consistent electoral strength.
In the Government of West Bengal, Tudu has held roles including Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Paschimanchal Unnayan Affairs, focusing on tribal area development and coordination of parliamentary business.
As of 2026, she continues her service as an MLA and minister, working on welfare schemes and constituency development in Manbazar.
