R Bindu

R Bindhu is a member of 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly representing Irinjalakkuda and the Minister of Higher Education in second Pinarayi Vijayan Cabinet. She was the first Mayor of Thrissur. She is a member of the Central Executive Committee of the Democratic Women's Association and a member of the CPM Thrissur District Committee.

Bindhu entered in Social activities through student politics. She completed her education in Irinjalakkuda Girls' HS, Irinjalakkuda St Joseph's College, Departmenet of English; Calicut University and JNU Delhi.

She holds a Masters degree in English Literature and an MPhil and PhD. She has been the State Student Subcommittee Convenor of SFI, a member of the Calicut University Syndicate, and a member of the University Senate. She became the mayor of Thrissur Corporation in 2005–10. She was the head of the English department Department and principal in charge at Thrissur Kerala Varma College. She resigned from the post and contested in Assembly Election 2021 from Iringalakuda.

She was born in 1957 as the daughter of KN Radhakrishnan and K Shanthakumari.She is the wife of LDF Convener A. Vijayaraghavan. Son: Harikrishnan

As of 2026, R. Bindu continues to serve as MLA from Kalamassery and as Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice in the Kerala government, actively implementing policies in education and social welfare sectors.
