Niraj Kumar Babloo was born on 2 February 1969 in Maldiha village, located in the Purnia district of Bihar. His father is Ram Kishor Singh. He pursued his higher education and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree. He is married to Nootan Singh and they have two sons. He belongs to the General Class Rajput community.
Babloo's political journey began with his active involvement in public life earlier, but he rose to prominence in 2005 when he was first elected as a Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. Initially, he represented the Raghopur-Supaul Constituency as a member of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) until 2010. Following delimitation, he successfully contested and was elected from the Chhatapur constituency in 2010. In August 2015, he rebelled against the JD(U) and subsequently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He continued his electoral success, winning the Chhatapur seat on a BJP ticket in both the 2015 and 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. In February 2021, he became the Minister of Environment and Forest in the Seventh Nitish Kumar ministry and later assumed the charge as Minister of Public Health Engineering for the Government of Bihar on 15 March 2024.
Beyond his political career, Niraj Kumar Babloo gained significant media attention due to his relationship with the late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, whom he is a cousin of. He has been vocal about the circumstances surrounding the actor's demise. Throughout his career, he has been recognized as an influential figure in the Kosi region of Bihar.
In November 2025, Neeraj Kumar Babloo (BJP) won the Chhatapur seat with 122,491 votes, defeating RJD’s Vipin Kumar Singh by 16,178 votes, reaffirming his political strength in Supaul district.
