Keshav‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Prasad Maurya is an Indian politician who was born on 7 May 1969 in Sirathu, Uttar Pradesh. After graduating from a very humble background, he took up various small jobs and, at the same time, was affiliated with the RSS and later with the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). He gained recognition during his early years of organizational work as a devoted grassroots worker with whom he had the non-Yadav OBC communities of the rural areas.

Maurya joined the BJP, which was considered his big-picture step, and in due course rose to horizons within the party. He made his first major move in 2014 when he contested and won the Phulpur seat of the Lok Sabha elections by a large margin. In 2016, he became the Uttar Pradesh BJP State President and was instrumental in the resuscitation of the party’s fortunes all over the state.

After the 2017 BJP triumph, Maurya was elevated to the post of Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, thus marking his coming to top-level state leadership. After the 2022 assembly elections, he was still entrusted with high-profile engagements and is a dominant political personality in the state’s OBC and organisational ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌politics.
