Dr. Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya (born 1 June 1972) is an Indian politician from Gujarat and a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has served as Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports in the Government of India, and previously as Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers.

A former MLA and two-term Rajya Sabha MP, he won the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Porbandar with a large margin.

Mansukh Mandaviya Biography

Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya was born to Laxman Bhai and Shamuben in Hanol, Palitana taluka of Bhavnagar district of Gujarat on 1st June 1972.

Active in politics since his youth, Dr Mandaviya served as a member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and held positions like State Executive Committee Member and President of the BJP Unit in Palitana. Elected as the youngest MLA in Gujarat in 2002, he later served in various roles within the BJP, including Secretary and General Secretary of the State Unit.

In 2014, he led BJP's High-tech & Mega Membership Drive Campaign in Gujarat, resulting in a significant increase in party membership. At 38, he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha from Gujarat and served on numerous standing committees.

Mandaviya organised several Padyatras aimed at social causes such as girl-child education and women empowerment. Notably, he undertook a 123 km Padyatra for promoting girl child education in 2004, followed by a 127 km Padyatra addressing gender discrimination and women empowerment in 2006. In 2019, he organised a 150 km Padyatra coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary.

Appointed as the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, and Chemicals and Fertilizers in 2016, Mandaviya was re-elected as an MP in the Rajya Sabha in 2018.

In May 2019, he became the Minister of State in the Council of Ministers, Government of India, overseeing Ports, Shipping, Waterways, Chemicals, and Fertilizers. Driven by his commitment to public service, he implemented initiatives to reduce healthcare costs and improve access to essential medicines.

Appointed as the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare in July 2021, Dr. Mandaviya played a pivotal role in India's fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the successful vaccination drive.

Post the BJP-led NDA victory in the 2024 general elections, he was inducted into the Modi 3.0 Cabinet as the Minister of Labour and Employment and Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports.

As an Executive Board Member for GAVI - The Vaccine Alliance and Chairperson of Stop TB Board Partnership, Dr Mandaviya continues to work towards achieving public health goals, including eliminating tuberculosis from India by 2025. Additionally, he has led various initiatives to strengthen India's healthcare system, prioritize mental health, and upgrade health infrastructure.

Furthermore, he is a Chairperson of the Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Ltd. The firm focuses on farm mechanization, market access, and value addition; He even initiated a biogas campaign, the Mango festival, Kharek festival.

Mandaviya has represented India at numerous international forums and business events, showcasing India's progress and potential on the global stage. He gave a speech at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), New York, on the "2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development."

On a personal front, Mandaviya married Geeta Ben and is blessed with two children with her.

Mansukh Mandaviya completed a B.A. in Political Science from Bhavnagar University in 2014. He further obtained a postgraduate degree in Political Science from the same institution in 2016.
