Malikaiah Guttedar won the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the town of Afzalpur in the district of Gulbarga twice in 2008 and 2013, respectively. Guttedar earlier was a candidate of INC and later shifted to BJP in the year 2018. Unfortunately, he was defeated by opponent candidate M. Y. Patil in the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Elections.
