Kodikunnil Suresh was born on June 4, 1962, in Kodikunnil, Thiruvananthapuram district, Kerala, to Kunjan and Thankamma P.

Beginning his political journey, Suresh was first elected to the 9th Lok Sabha in 1989. Over the years, he has been re-elected multiple times, serving continuously. He has held various important positions including membership in committees such as the Standing Committee on Rural Development, Committee on Petitions, and Committee on Estimates, among others.

In 1996, he was elected to the 11th Lok Sabha for his third term and continued to contribute through committees focusing on welfare issues and communications. His dedication led him to serve as Executive Member of the Congress Parliamentary Party in 1996.
