Hiten Barman Biography

A former member of All India Forward Bloc, Hiten Barman contested and won in the 2011 assembly elections as an AITC candidate from Sitalkuchi constituency. He was elected to serve a second term from the same constituency in 2016. Barman forayed into politics in 1972, and subsequently joined AIFB. He contested and lost 1996 Lok Sabha elections as a AIFB candidate against FBL candidate Amar Roy Pradhan from Cooch Behar. He quit AIFB following their refusal to certain internal skirmishes and joined AITC.
