Dr. Cholenahalli Nanjappa Manjunath, better known as C N Manjunath was born into a modest family in Cholenahalli, Channarayapattana taluk. At the age of 10, he fell seriously ill with a high fever. His father, Nanjappa Gowda, went to great lengths to seek medical help, carrying him on his shoulders to hospitals in Channarayapattana and then to Udayapur, despite the distance.
This experience inspired Dr. Manjunath to pursue a career in medicine to aid the underprivileged in rural areas. Today, he is highly skilled in mitral valvuloplasty, a procedure for congenital heart conditions. Dr Manjunath is renowned for his principle of prioritizing treatment overpayment, ensuring that medical care is accessible to all.

On a personal front, he is married to Anusuya, the eldest daughter of Janta Dal (Secular) leader and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.
Dr Manjunath finds himself thrust into the political arena, representing the BJP in a significant electoral battle in Bengaluru Rural against D.K. Suresh, the two-time Congress MP and brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
Initially hesitant about entering politics, Dr Manjunath was persuaded by his father-in-law, Deve Gowda, who meticulously paved the way for his candidacy.
