Dhananjay Bhimrao Mahadik (born 15 January 1972) is an Indian politician who hails from the Kolhapur district of Maharashtra. He is a Commerce graduate of Shivaji University and got started with his political career in the early 2000s. The first big elections he contested were in the year 2004 by standing as a Shiv Sena candidate for the Kolhapur Lok Sabha seat, but he lost.
He quit Shiv Sena and went on to join the NCP while continuing his political career in Kolhapur. Mahadik got elected to the Lok Sabha in 2014 and took his seat in the 16th Lok Sabha. He participated in the active engagement of the Parliamentary committees and the civic issues during his tenure. He achieved the Sansad Ratna Award during his two years of legislative performance in 2017 and 2018.
During the 2019 elections, Mahadik lost the Kolhapur seat to the Shiv Sena candidate but contested from there once more. That year, he switched, accompanied by various NCP leaders, to the BJP, which also marked the change of his destiny in politics.
Mahadik was made a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha for Maharashtra by the BJP and continues to take an active part in national law-maker affairs in 2022. Besides the national politics, he is still the very person involved in local societal issues like the Kolhapur airport project, education facilities, and so on.
Mahadik’s marriage to Arundhati Mahadik since 1994 has resulted in the three boys. The family lives in Kolhapur. Besides politics, he is also involved in business and cooperative activities in the area and occupies top positions in various companies.
He is still a Rajya Sabha MP from Maharashtra and a very important leader in the BJP state organization by 2025.
