Baijayant Panda He was born to Bansidhar Panda and Ila Panda in Cuttack on 12-Jan-1964.
Panda is an industrialist and social worker by profession turned politician. He had served in the indirectly elected Rajya Sabha, from 2000 to 2009.
Panda was elected from the Kendrapara constituency with a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ticket. He was once a close confidante of BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.
But Panda was suspended from the BJD party for alleged anti-party activities on 24 January 2018 and resigned from BJD on 28 May 2018. He said he was "shocked" and denied the charges against him as "false and baseless." He also alleged there was a conspiracy against him.
On 4 March 2019, Panda joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). His entry into the BJP was noticeable as he was immediately handed the post of party vice-president which he continues to serve to date. In the 2024 general elections, the BJP fielded him to contest from the Kendrapara constituency. he won the seat by defeating BJD's Anshuman Mohanty by gaining 6,15,705 votes.
Beond politics, his special interest lies in economic & technology related issues. He is a regular speaker at both Indian and International conferences.
Furthermore, he holds a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) and participates in skydiving and bungee jumping. He is a member of the India International Centre, an Associate Member of the India Habitat Centre, Delhi, and a member of the Bhubaneswar Club, Bhubaneswar.
On a personal note, he married Jagi Mangat Panda and his net worth stands at Rs 1,48,08,78,708.
