B. K. Sangameshwara entered the world on 28 October 1963 as the son of farmers in the Indian village of Bhadravati, located in Shimoga district of Karnataka state. After finishing his tenth-grade studies, he started working in farming while pursuing his political ambitions.
He started his political career by running as an independent candidate in the 2004 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election, which he won from the Bhadravati constituency after defeating the Congress candidate with a large victory margin. After his first victory, he joined the Indian National Congress party to establish his political strength in the district.
Sangameshwara won the Bhadravati Assembly seat during the 2008 elections to begin his second term in office. He lost the 2013 election because a rival candidate from the Janata Dal (Secular) party won the seat. He returned to politics through the 2018 Assembly election victory, which allowed him to bring the constituency back to the Congress party.
Sangameshwara achieved his fourth victory in the 2023 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election for Bhadravati after receiving more than 66000 votes, which allowed him to defeat the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate by a slim margin. He received his appointment as chairman of the Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Ltd/Land Army in January 2024, which is a state-level board position he will hold.
Sangameshwara actively participates in legislative discussions while dealing with community matters. Public disputes occurred in 2025 when he made religious comments, which received media attention and required him to provide explanations.
B. K. Sangameshwara serves as the Bhadravati elected MLA and continues to participate in Congress activities while working on regional infrastructure development projects.
