Siddaramaiah parents wanted him to become a doctor but he chose to become a lawyer. But he accidentally came to politics. Their desire is to see hunger-free Karnataka. In 2010, Siddaramaiah travelled Bangalore to Ballary 320 km padayatra (Ballary Chalo) against Reddy Brothers. It is the major incident in Karnataka politics. Siddaramaiah took oath as 22nd Chief Minister of Karnataka. He served this post will 2018. He was the first CM of the state who completed his full five year term after 1977.

He became the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka state in the regime of former CM J. H. Patel.
He was elected as Member of Karnataka legislative Assembly. He was appointed as Minister of Finance.
Siddharamaiah was elected as Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Chamundeshwari constituency. He contested on the ticket from Bharatiya Lok Dal.
Around the year 1968 Siddaramaiah was appointed as junior lawyer under a famous Senior lawyer, Chikkaboraiah, in Mysore. Later Siddaramaiah taught law in Law college for some college.
