He is representing the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha constituency and has been elected to the Parliament several times. He is the younger brother of DK Shivakumar, the current Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Doddalahalli Kempegowda Suresh is an Indian politician. He is a three-time Member of Parliament for the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha Constituency. He is the younger brother of DK Shivakumar, the current Deputy chief minister of Karnataka., a distinguished businessman and farmer, ventured into politics as a member of the Indian National Congress (INC). His political journey commenced in 2013 when he contested and triumphed in the bye-polls for the Bangalore Rural seat. This opportunity arose following the resignation of the former MP, H.D Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular). Notably, Suresh clinched victory against Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of H.D Kumaraswamy in the 2013 elections.



Building upon his initial success, Suresh secured re-election during the 16th Lok Sabha elections in 2014, marking the commencement of his second term as the Member of Parliament for Bangalore Rural.



He was once again re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha on the INC ticket. As he geared up for the 2024 general elections, Suresh remained committed to representing the constituency, and faced off against BJP's Cholenahalli Nanjappa Manjunath, a notable cardiologist and the son-in-law of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda. Unfortunately, he lost to him.


Driven by a vision of progress, Suresh aims to address critical issues such as irrigation in drought-affected regions and ensuring access to clean drinking water for every village within the Bangalore Rural Lok Sabha Constituency.



As the Vice-Chairperson of the D.K.S. Charitable Institute Trust, he actively pursues initiatives aimed at providing pure drinking water to water-scarce villages, boasting over 50 water treatment plants that supply water at a nominal rate. Additionally, the trust plays a pivotal role in identifying eligible beneficiaries for various social welfare schemes and promoting education in rural areas, recognising meritorious students with cash rewards.



Beyond his political and philanthropic endeavours, Suresh also enjoys a diverse range of interests, including study tours, travel, and sports, particularly volleyball. He is a valued member of the City Institute in Bangalore and the Kanakapura Town Tennis Club, reflecting his engagement within the community.



With a substantial net worth amounting to Rs 3,38,89,20,717, Suresh is recognised as one of the wealthiest politicians in India.
