K. Anbazhagan is former Finance Minister and Education Minister of Tamilnadu. He is a popular Dravidian leader in Tamilnadu and a close aide to Kalaignar M.Karunanidhi. He is the General Secretary of the party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(DMK). He has been elected to The Tamilnadu State Legislative Assembly for nine occasions. He is also known as 'Perasiriyar'. His party people like to mention him as 'Inamaana Perasiriyar'.

This time He was elected as MLA from Anna nagar constituency, Chennai. But the Government was dismissed by the Indian Prime minister on 31 January, 1991. This is the second time the DMK government was dismissed after 1976. There were controversies regarding the dismissal.

This time He was elected as MLA from Park Town constituency, Chennai. Later He had given up his MLA position putting forward the Tamil Eelam issue.
