Anant Kumar Singh was born in 1961 in Nadawan village, located in the Patna district of Bihar. After emerging from a family with strong political connections, he made his way into the political landscape of the Mokama area, where he eventually became very popular, gradually increasing his followers year after year. His initial political career was primarily shaped by the local environment and his direct interaction with voters.
He made his electoral debut with the Janata Dal (United) in the year 2005 and won the Mokama Assembly seat. Singh didn't take much time to acquire notoriety for his engaging manner, keeping his vow to charity by wearing white, and facelist type, which were his main features that gravitated his power in politics.
As a matter of fact, he had a history of contesting elections with JD(U), then as an Independent candidate, and later on he joined the RJD. He even faced some legal issues along the way, but still managed to keep a loyal fan base. The family, which consists of the mother, Neelam Devi, and other members, has become a source of power, and the area is their stronghold, gearing them for continued political presence.
“In November 2025, Anant Kumar Singh, a jailed JDU leader often called ‘Chhote Sarkar’, won the Mokama seat with 91,416 votes, defeating RJD’s Veena Devi by a margin of 28,206 votes, reinforcing his long‑standing political stronghold.
