Abhijit Gangopadhyay, better known as Justice Abhijit Ganguly is a former Judge of the Calcutta High Court. He resigned from his post to contest the Tamluk Lok Sabha seat from West Bengal in the 2024 general elections on the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP).
He was inspired by his father, who was a respected lawyer in Calcutta, to become a lawyer too. His childhood was influenced by his family, school, and his growing interest in law.
During college, he didn't just focus on his studies; he also joined Bengal Theatre, where he got better at acting. Being part of the 'Amitra Chanda' theatre group let him pursue his love for the arts alongside studying law.
After finishing law school, he entered the realm of civil service, serving with the West Bengal Civil Service Executive. He was posted in North Dinajpur, West Bengal. But he realised his true passion was law, so he became a public prosecutor at Calcutta High Court.
