Yeasmin Sabina was born on 17 March 1978 in Karari Chandpur, Malda, West Bengal. She completed her Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and postgraduate studies from North Bengal University and served as a part-time college lecturer before entering full-time politics.
She began her political career with the Indian National Congress (INC) and was elected MLA from Mothabari in the 2011 West Bengal Assembly election, becoming a notable representative from Malda district. She retained the seat in 2016 as an INC candidate, demonstrating strong local support.
In 2018, Sabina joined the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), aligning with the state’s ruling party and expanding her role in state governance. In the 2021 Assembly elections, she was re-elected from Mothabari as an AITC candidate with a substantial vote share.
In the Government of West Bengal, Sabina has held ministerial responsibilities, including service as Minister of State for Irrigation & Waterways and North Bengal Development since 10 May 2021, contributing to policy and infrastructure initiatives in water management and regional upliftment.
As of 2026, she continues to serve as an MLA and minister, engaged in legislative duties and constituency development.
