V. T. Balram was born on 10 May 1982 in Kerala. He entered public life through student politics and was associated with the Kerala Students Union (KSU), the student wing of the Congress.
He later rose within the party ranks and became active in youth politics, building his profile through organisational work and public engagement.
In 2011, he was elected as a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly from Thrithala constituency, marking his entry into legislative politics.
He was re-elected in 2016, continuing his tenure as MLA and gaining recognition for his outspoken views on political and social issues.
In the 2021 Kerala Assembly election, he contested again from Thrithala but lost the election, ending his consecutive terms in the Assembly.
