K. A. Thulasi became active in politics through Congress organisational activities and local public engagement programmes in Kerala. Her political work focused on grassroots mobilisation, women’s participation in politics, and constituency-level outreach, helping her gradually emerge as a recognised Congress leader in Palakkad district.
In 2005, she expanded her involvement in local political and organisational activities within the Indian National Congress. Through participation in welfare initiatives and party coordination programmes, she strengthened her public visibility in Kerala politics.
Between 2010 and 2020, Thulasi remained active in Congress organisational affairs and constituency-level political mobilisation. Her continued engagement with local communities and public programmes helped consolidate her position within regional Congress politics.
From 2021 to 2025, she intensified constituency outreach and political engagement in Kongad through campaign activities, public interaction, and issue-based mobilisation. Her sustained grassroots presence strengthened support for the Congress-led United Democratic Front ahead of the Assembly election.
In the 2026 Kerala Assembly election, K. A. Thulasi won the Kongad constituency with 62,734 votes, securing victory by a margin of 3,706 votes and registering an important electoral win for the Congress-led UDF in Palakkad district.
On 18 May 2026, K. A. Thulasi was sworn in as a Cabinet Minister in the new Kerala government following the UDF’s return to power.
