Ramesh Jarkiholi Biography

Born in Belgaum district of Karnataka, Ramesh Jarkiholi was an agriculturist and a businessperson before entering the politics. He had started his political career with Indian National Congress but later shifted sides and joined BJP. Ramesh comes from Valmiki Nayaka community which is designated as a Scheduled Tribe in India's reservation system. Ramesh Jarkiholi's father was a businessman. He has 4 siblings and interestingly all of them are in politics. Two of his brothers are associated with Congress and another and he himself now a member of BJP. For over a two decades Jarkiholi brothers have been ruling the Belagavi reason, the sugar-bow of Karnataka. Ramesh Jarkiholi has held ministerial position in several portfolios under several chief ministers right from Yeddiyurapa of BJP, Siddaramaiah of Congress and HD Kumaraswamy of JDS.
At present, Ramesh Jarkiholi won the 2023 assembly election from Gokak constituency by defeating INC candidate Mahantesh Kadadi.
