Shripad Yesso Naik is a businessperson turned politician. He is a Member of Parliament from North Goa constituency, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Currently, he is handling Ministry of Power and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy as a Minister of State

In the previous cabinet, he served as the Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, and the Ministry of Tourism. He was also appointed as the Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. Simultaneously, he is the Minister of State for Tourism.

He is the former Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) and former Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare.

Naik started his political career in 1999, he was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha from Panaji constituency in Goa. He has held his seat in the Panaji constituency winning in the 2004, 2009 and 2014 elections. As of 2014, he is a member of the 16th Lok Sabha and the Minister of State, (IC), Ministry of AYUSH Government of India.

As President, he has been actively associated with various social and cultural activities across different organisations and institutions. These include serving as the President of Vidyarthi Nidhi in Goa and the Sai Prathan Mandir Trust in Ribandar, Goa.

Additionally, he has held the position of Chairperson in significant bodies such as the Shikshan Prasarak Sangh in Dhurpat and the Sharda English High School in Ponda, Goa.

Furthermore, his engagement extends to leadership roles in the Sumangal Urban Credit Cooperative Society in Durbhat, Ponda, Goa, and the Ratnagiri Education Society in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. Alongside these leadership positions, he has been an active member of Managing Committees within various educational institutions, including the Mandovi Education Society in Betim, the Old Goa Education Society in Old Goa, and the Prabodhan Education Society in Porvorim, Goa.

Apart from this, he is a versatile athlete, who etched his name in the annals of sports history through his remarkable achievements. As a state-level player, he has left an indelible mark in Kabaddi, Volleyball, and Swimming, earning numerous accolades and titles. His exemplary performance has been highlighted by clinching the prestigious Gold Medal in the 400-meter race and securing a Silver Medal in shooting competitions.

Beyond his triumphs, he has taken on leadership roles, serving as the Chairperson of the Goa Rifle Association and the Mandon Athletic Club. His commitment to fostering athletic excellence extends further as he assumes the position of President of the Goa Olympic Association.

Shripad Yesso Naik was born to Yesso Bhikari Naik and Jayshri Yesso Naik at Adpai in the North Goa district on the 4th of October 1952. He married Vijaya Shripad Naik in 1984 and was blessed with three sons with her.

His special interest lies in travelling, reading, doing yoga & meditation, singing, swimming and shooting.
